Social Group

The group consists of a very committed core of parishioners with a wide pool of others willing to co-operate and work as a team to help with the organisation of social events.

Whenever a social event is due we meet as a group to discuss all aspects and organise an action plan so that we can, not only work in harmony, but complement each others skills.

During the course of the year we normally have the following events:

• Senior Parishioners’ Lunch in St Dominic’s Room, Kelvedon (January)
• Summer Fete at Kelvedon in the Presbytery garden (June)
• Curry Night in St Dominic’s Room, Kelvedon (October)
• Christmas Bazaar at St John Houghton, Tiptree (end of November)

We have also in the past organised Wassail Evenings and Quiz Nights and hope in the future to reintroduce them.

Whilst most events are fund raising to help finance the Senior Parishioners’ lunch, sending our young people to Lourdes or helping them to attend the World Youth Day, our primary aim is to bring people together to enable them to meet fellow parishioners from all parts of the parish and encourage greater friendship, understanding and a sense of belonging.

The group is open to all and whenever an event is due a notice is put in the newsletter encouraging all parishioners to get involved.
