Christmas Bazaar - 26 November 2011
Many thanks to all who supported
our Christmas Bazaar last weekend, either by
coming or donating items, or through
purchasing draw tickets. A special thank you
to all who helped to run stalls, set them up
and clear away afterwards. You will be
pleased to hear that the taking before the
deduction of expenses were approximately £2085. I think this is significantly more than
last year, which was, of course, affected by
the snowy weather.

Curry Night - 4 November 2011
A great evening was had by all. The curries and desserts were wonderful - so many thanks to Father Gordon and the ladies of the 'Social Team' who worked so hard to prepare the food. Thanks also to the servers who glided almost unseen between the tables - they are becoming true professionals.
Much fun was had during the raffle with Sean proving to be the perfect presenter - has he been taking lessons? It did seem slightly fishy however that Maria was a winner - twice!
The evening raised approximately £350 clear profit which will be used for the Senior Citizens' Lunch.

Parish Summer Fete - 25 June 2011
The week leading up to the fete was very wet and unsettled so on the Friday the decision was taken to hold the event in the church. This took an enormous amount of reorganisation [and muscle] at the last minute. As ever, parishioners rose to the occasion quickly clearing pews after Saturday Mass and setting up their stalls. Despite all the hurdles that had to be overcome we still managed to raise £1600. An amazing effort by all.
Many thanks to the Social Team and their band of helpers. Thanks also to the parishioners who came to the fete and parted with their money so generously.

Senior Citizens' Christmas Lunch - 22 January 2011
It was like being able to have Christmas over again - crackers, music, fun and a superb meal cooked by ladies of the parish.

Christmas Bazaar - Saturday 27 November 2010
A tremendous effort from the Social Team and parishioners ensured another success when earlier in the week things were not looking so good (weather and fire).

Curry Night - Friday 22 October 2010 Another wonderful Curry Night! The sumptuous currys were cooked by Father Gordon as usual with parishioners providing rice, samosas and desserts. Father G's currys are renown throughout the diocese - a contingent from Ingatestone (Father's last parish) came - obviously still suffering from withdrawal symtoms having 'lost' their master chef. The desserts were divine; despite my best efforts I could not dissuade people from sharing the chocolate mousse with me. The evening raised over £600 which will help fund our Senior Parishioners' Christmas Lunch and in sending young people to Lourdes. A very big thank you to the 'Social Team' who put so much hard work into making this a resounding success. |

Garden Party - Saturday 19 June 2010
Flammin' June! Take that which ever way you want.
It's on days like this that you wonder whether or not 'global warming' is some Machiavellian plan invented in the back corridors of Whitehall. It was cold, but dry; cold and wet; windy, cold and wet; and finally, sunny ............ for a bit.
Were we down hearted - NOT ONE BIT!
As always, parishioners young and old made the day a success - you could say that the Spirit flowed like a warm glow - well that's my view.
Many, many thanks to all those who worked so hard to bring the Garden Party to fruition.
And, of course, many thanks to those hardy souls who braved the elements and, more bravely still, parted with their cash.
